Offer provides financial potential and education for municipal golf courses
Greenlight Advisors has teamed up with the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) to invite municipal golf courses to participate in Greenlight’s “Exclusive 2024 Municipal Golf Study.” The objective of the study is to provide a clear financial picture for municipal golf course operators, and offer them an educational forum and a special Municipal Membership to both organizations. To participate, municipal golf facilities must sign up by November 30, 2024 at https://signup.golfclubbenchmarks.com; participants will receive details and next steps once registered.
Greenlight Advisors pioneered benchmarking for municipal golf course operators in 2022 when it successfully gathered data from hundreds of municipal golf courses across the United States, and published the first ever municipal operators benchmarking study. Participating courses included Salt Lake City Golf, Chicago Park District, Palm Beach County, Alamo City Golf Trail, and many other munis across the country. Greenlight prides itself on empowering operators to make informed decisions through a critical analysis of their data, helping them easily identify areas for improvement, and enhancing service delivery to their communities. Sample reports can be found at https://golfclubbenchmarks.com/about.
“Greenlight Advisors is thrilled to join forces with the NGCOA to promote collaboration and education of municipal golf course operators and the sharing of key financial and operational data for the benefit of all,” said Greenlight Advisors Founding Partner Michael A. Suglich, CPA. “We aim to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date snapshot, using our “Best-in-Class Report CardTM” to grade and equip golf course operators with the knowledge they need to improve performance and ensure the long-term success and sustainability of municipal golf courses.”
Greenlight will evaluate and grade participating golf courses’ financial and operational performance data against industry benchmarks—classifying each metric as Top Quartile, Median, or Bottom Quartile in an online “Best-in-Class Report CardTM.” This analysis will provide valuable insights into how golf courses compare to similar operations, highlighting potential financial and operational opportunities that may emerge. Armed with this information, municipal course operators can reassess their business strategies and make informed adjustments to capitalize on new prospects.
“We are thrilled to partner with Greenlight Advisors to bring meaningful data to the nation’s 2,500 municipal golf courses to help them make super-informed management decisions,” said Jay Karen, CEO at the NGCOA, “I’m a strong believer and advocate of collaboration and sharing golf course data for the betterment of the industry, and I hope you will join the NGCOA and Greenlight Advisors on this mission, together.”
Greenlight Advisors and the NGCOA will publish a story on the findings and will also hold a special Municipal session at NGCOA’s Golf Business Conference 2025 (GBC25) in Orlando. New NGCOA Municipal Members will receive a complimentary registration to GBC25 and elements of the co-located 2025 PGA Show, January 20-24, 2025.
Greenlight Advisors and the NGCOA are inviting all municipal, state, and federal golf courses to participate in the study by November 30, 2024. Founded by CPAs, Greenlight Advisors’ service is trusted by golf course operators across the country who submit their data and receive a confidential 40-metric benchmark report. Municipal courses are encouraged to sign up before November 30, 2024 at https://signup.golfclubbenchmarks.com to participate and receive details and next steps.
